Naturals In The Sun 1st Anniversary Meet-Up hosted by CharyJay

Naturals In The Sun is a South Florida based support group and educational resource for women who embrace their natural hair texture. This past weekend, around 300 curl haired ladies arrived at the Sheraton Hotel in Fort Lauderdale in celebration of the groups 1st Anniversary Meet-Up.  The event hosted by YouTube Maven Chary Jay consisted of poetry readings, hair demonstrations, giveaways, raffles and a panel discussion. In addition to the plethora of activities the ladies had in store for us, there were an array of vendors providing goods ranging from natural hair products, to jewelry and even desserts. To say this meet-up was a dream for naturals gals and ladies in the midst of transitioning would be an understatement. If you missed out on this event, please be sure to join the Naturals In The Sun facebook group to stay up to date on upcoming events.
Event host Chary Jay shared her natural hair journey, in addition to telling us how she got started on YouTube. Of course, she did not disappoint with another innovative style, which will be featured on one of her upcoming Style Cards. When she wasn’t on stage fulfilling her hosting duties, she mingled with guests who were more than exited to meet the natural beauty in person.

My girl (and fellow preggo) Chanell Nicole was in the building serving major bump style in a Liz Lange Maternity dress!!! As Funky Dineva would say, “Yes Gawd!!! You did that hunty!” lol. Be sure to check out her blog Sepia Says and tell her I sent you 🙂

The ladies in attendance were showcasing a myriad of different hair textures, hair do’s and personal style.
I finally got to spend some time my Twitter friend Milkdroptattoo (pictured in orange), who was just as lovely in person as I imagined she would be. I also got to meet and hang out with FloridaNatural (pictured in yellow), who I may now be obsessed with, lol. She’s so much fun and seriously has the most bubbly personality – be sure to visit her blog and Youtube channel. I also met the lovely Rebecca of Jazzie Delights!
This Curly Girl’s outfit was too cute not to share! I had to snap a photo.

Youtube’s MsDanti was in the building as well looking AMAZING and was a darling during our brief chat! She didn’t disappoint as she sported a gorgeous corn rowed hairstyle and her makeup was flawless as expected. If you’re in need of dope makeup and/or natural hair tutorials – you need to stop by her Youtube channel and check out her tumblr.

I also got to meet DearNatural62 – another awesome soul who knows how to have a good time!
Chary thought the both of us looked alike, so we just had to snap a photo together lol! TWINS!!!
It’s always a pleasure running into these two ladies! Shana is the force behind Ily Beauty Co. whose Adore Leave-In Conditioner I fell in love with after the last Curlbox event. I finally took the opportunity to finally purchase a full size bottle from her on Saturday – I can’t wait to use it again! LaShara is the sweetheart behind Love Child Essentials, your go to website for high quality natural hair products (including the Heritage line that I need to get my hands on). Be sure to check her out!

Finally I have to once again thank the ladies of Naturals In The Sun for inviting me and organizing such an amazing event. You ladies did a great job and we really appreciate everything that you do!

Great recap!!! I am so out of the South Florida Natural loop so to speak. However, I do love attending the events and meeting new people. Hopefully we will cross paths soon!
